Karl von Hasenauer
* 20. Jul 1833, † 04. Jan 1894
A native of Vienna, Karl von Hasenauer was a pupil of the architects August Sicard von Sicardsburg (1813–1868) and Eduard van der Nüll (1812–1868), the designers of the Vienna Opera on the Ringstrasse. Nobilitated in 1873, he collaborated with Gottfried Semper on the design and construction of the Burgtheater, the Neue Burg and the Court Museums. Their professional relationship ended acrimoniously in 1876, and there is still considerable debate as to the authorship of the two architects.
