Frederick III, ‘the Fair’

Frederick ‘the Fair’, son of King Albrecht I, endeavoured to succeed his father as Roman-German King. However, in 1322 he suffered an annihilating defeat at Mühldorf am Inn at the hands of the Wittelsbach Louis IV. Frederick retained his title as anti-king, but after his death no Habsburg became Roman-German King for over a hundred years.
