In addition to numerous identifiable animals, Rudolf II’s Bestiarium also contains fabulous creatures such as the dragon or the unicorn, although the latter’s existence was already a matter of some dispute at the emperor’s court. The Bestiarium contains watercolours by various artists in the employ of the court at Prague.
