H. Sperl (after Salomon Kleiner): The church and Academic College of the Society of Jesus, 1724, copperplate engraving
The engraving shows the University Church (Jesuitenkirche) in Vienna, erected between 1623 and 1631, together with the old University complex, which was run by the Jesuits from 1622. The Jesuits brought a new artistic style with them: the Baroque, whose grandiose architecture gave artistic expression to the triumph of the Catholic Church.
