Crown Prince Rudolf’s lederhosen, around 1880

Hunting dress was inspired by traditional clothing and work clothes from the Austrian alpine region and “ennobled” pieces of clothing such as the lederhosen and loden jacket. The hunting costume dominated the emperor’s classic representation along with his uniform and Crown Prince Rudolf followed his father’s example as well. This image of the crown prince was already spread and popularised when he was a child.
