In 1667 the marriage of Emperor Leopold I and the Spanish infanta Margarita Teresa took place, an event that marked the apogee of Baroque festive culture at the Viennese Court. Members of the Court and even the emperor himself played active parts in an allegorical glorification of the House of Habsburg.
